Career Pathways Training Program
Starting in 2020, approved tax credit projects are required to make a financial contribution to fund a Career Pathways Training Program which supports pathways that make it easier for job seekers to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. The program ensures that CA has a diverse and highly skilled workforce to meet the state’s production needs.

BAVC Media
BAVC Media (Bay Area Video Coalition) is a 50-year-old nonprofit media arts organization located in San Francisco and Oakland, CA, that provides advanced technical training and workforce development services to Bay Area residents with an emphasis on recruiting young adults from diverse backgrounds. BAVC Media CFC’s Career Pathways Program provides advanced media training for young adults through our Assistant Editor Pre-Apprenticeship program and Digital Marketing and Media Producer Apprenticeship program, and courses for the occupations of Production Assistant, Line Producer, and Field Engineer for adults of all ages. Classes emphasize technical and hands-on learning in a community setting and are taught by industry professionals. BAYCAT
BAYCAT is an award-winning media arts, youth, and workforce development organization in the San Francisco Bay Area. We strive to build a world where media celebrates diverse voices and experiences by training the next generation of BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and women storytellers. 18+ programs include:
1) BAYCAT’s 6-8 week Studio Internship, which offers the opportunity to work with our professional in-house production team creating socially-conscious media for clients like the Golden State Warriors, Oakland Museum of California, and local nonprofits. Interns leave with experience using professional cameras, lighting equipment, and production software, along with a reel, material for their portfolio, and a network of diverse industry professionals. 2) BAYCAT’s 1-2 week Career Success Intensives (CSI’s) dive deep on specific skills in the film and entertainment industries like camera operating, editing, or being a great PA with the goal of helping participants enter into or advance sustainable, creative careers. Handy Foundation
Handy Foundation is a Los Angeles-based workforce development organization with a mission and proven track record of increasing representation in the below-the-line entertainment industry workforce. Since its inception in 2020, the Foundation has successfully trained underrepresented individuals, providing them with technical and soft skills; mentorship and industry networks; and comprehensive training support that improves access to competitive jobs in sustainable careers. Hollywood CPR
Since 1997, Hollywood CPR (Hollywood Cinema Production Resources) has operated as a nonprofit workforce-training program focused on expanding access to union-track careers in film, television, and live events for California residents. Hollywood CPR works in direct partnership with IATSE, Contract Services, and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to train set-ready crew for below-the-line roles. Through industry-aligned training and documented on-set work experience hours, Hollywood CPR helps expand and stabilize California’s skilled production workforce by connecting emerging talent to high-wage, long-term careers that are essential to the entertainment industry. The Latino Film Institute
The Latino Film Institute (LFI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to empowering storytellers and creators and advancing innovation in the entertainment, tech, arts, and media industries. Through its signature programs, including the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF), the Youth Cinema Project (YCP), LFI Scholar and Policy, LFI Spotlight, and LFI Fellowships. ManifestWorks
ManifestWorks is an immersive workforce development organization providing job training, placement and ongoing personal and professional support for careers in Hollywood to those impacted by foster care, homelessness and incarceration. Production Accounting Program
The California Film Commission Career Pathways Program administers the Entry-Level and Mid-Career Production Accounting Courses as supported by approved projects in the Film and Television Tax Credit Program and the Soundstage Filming Tax Credit Program. The courses equip students throughout California with the skills and connections to obtain entry-level and mid-career positions in television and film production accounting.
